Dallas Mavericks moving on from Chandler Parsons to Luol Deng, Trevor Ariza
Since the start of free agency, most expected the dominoes to fall in free agency once LeBron James made a decision about his future. Now that James has officially announced his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, free agency has really begun.

The Los Angeles Lakers are trading for Houston Rockets’ point guard Jeremy Lin as the Rockets attempt to clear cap space. They are doing so in order to prepare a max (or near-max) offer for James’ now former Heat teammate, Chris Bosh. The Rockets also want to match the offer sheet their restricted free agent, Chandler Parsons, but must first acquire Bosh before officially matching the offer. Parsons signed a three-year, $46 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, the Mavericks also expect the Rockets to match their offer sheet and will be moving on to their backup plan, Cleveland Cavaliers’ free agent forward Luol Deng or Washington Wizards’ swingman Trevor Ariza.
Parsons averaged 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 47.2% from the field, 37.0% from beyond the arc and 74.2% from the free throw line this season. Deng averaged 16.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 43.1% from the field, 30.2% from three and 79.1% from the charity stripe last season. Ariza went for 14.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He shot 45.6% from the field, 40.7% from beyond the arc and 77.2% from the free throw line.
