Throughout the day on Thursday it appeared as if LeBron James announcing that he would be returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers could happen at any moment. Yet, after numerous “announcement times” leaked throughout the day, those times came and passed, still with no announcement.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Now it seems as if LeBron might be sketchy on the idea of returning back home to Cleveland because of that infamous letter that Cavs owner Dan Gilbert wrote four years ago when LeBron left, bashing him like no other for the way he handled the exit.

On the Mike and Mike Show Friday morning, host Jonathan Coachman, filling in for Mike Greenberg, was handed a note from the producer citing a new report from Chris Broussard stating, “If it weren’t for that letter, this would have been done a while ago.”

“Done a while ago,” meaning that James would be back in a Cavs uniform by now.

That letter has been the 800-pound elephant in the room since the talk to James going back to the Cavaliers picked up some serious steam earlier this week. It was brushed off at first, for the most part, but it has reared its ugly head once again, and maybe at the worst possible time.

James seems to be torn in the last 24 hours about what to do. Despite people believing that he would be announcing some time on Thursday, James spent the day in Las Vegas with teammate Dwyane Wade, and the two flew back to Miami together late last night.

More and more, the Cavaliers’ fan base should start to become a tad bit worried.
