One thing does seem to be certain, however, and that is that Pau Gasol is not going to return to the Los Angeles Lakers.
After turning down a contract offer from the Lakers, there is some talk about a potential sign-and-trade between the Lakers and Chicago Bulls.
If a sign-and-trade does not go down, then it appears Gasol will remain in the Western Conference.
The big surprise is that the Western Conference team where Gasol could land is the defending champion San Antonio Spurs.
From Ramona Shelbourne of ESPN:
The rich get richer.
Chicago will obviously hope to land Gasol, especially if it would help the team find a way to lure Carmelo Anthony away from the New York Knicks.
There is no timetable set for Gasol’s decision, but it looks like we are getting closer to the end of the speculation.
