Ubaldo Jimenez placed on disabled list with ankle injury
By Hayden Kane
Ubaldo Jimenez did not see that darn hole in the parking lot. Maybe he was looking up at something in the sky. Maybe there was cloud shaped like a face. Maybe he was sending a text or checking the weather on his phone. Maybe he was just simply distracted. Whatever the case, he stepped in a hole in the parking lot and rolled his ankle.

Unfortunately for Jimenez and for the Orioles, the injury he sustained off the field forced him to the disabled list. For a team that is already searching for help in their rotation, that is definitely a bad break.
Roch Kubatko of MASN spoke with manager Buck Showalter about Jimenez’s injury:
"“He rolled his ankle,” Showalter said. “The way I understand it, he stepped in a hole in the parking lot. We were looking at it today and it’s pretty puffy, taped up. Tried to take a work day yesterday. We were hoping it would resolve somewhat today. Did not. And he’s not going to be able to start tomorrow. So, we’re probably going to DL him and backdate it and have him ready post All-Star break.”"
Presuming that his ankle heals in the timetable anticipated by the Orioles, it sounds like the timing with the All-Star break should allow him to miss minimal time. The Orioles are certainly hoping that this proactive approach will allow them to slot Jimenez right back into the rotation before the end of July.
And when he is able to return, maybe the Orioles will reserve Jimenez a parking spot closer to the locker room entrance.
