The Brooklyn Nets lost out on Paul Pierce Saturday night when he bolted to take a surprise deal from the Washington Wizards that will pay him $11 million over two years. This has many Nets fans wondering what is next, but a complete blowup of the roster simply because Pierce left seems unlikely.

There’s still some salary on the books that fans might not mind to see go and one of those players that fans have been asking about is Marquis Teague.
As pointed out by Tim Bontemps from the New York Post, it is possible that the Nets cut Marquis Teague but the cost of doing so just doesn’t seem to help the move make any sort of sense.
For those who've asked about possibility of Marquis Teague getting cut: would cost multiple millions in tax. Would be shocked if it happened

Not cutting Teague is probably the right move as not only is it an expensive move but there’s still a lot of upside for Teague moving forward. Brooklyn acquired Teague from the Chicago Bulls for virtually nothing, and to give up on him when he’s going to cost money either way it a move that the Nets are wise not to make.
