The Detroit Pistons have had a pretty quiet offseason up to this point but they’re spending their cash like free agency just opened as they’re nearing deals with two interesting free agents.

More from Detroit Pistons

After agreeing to a deal with point guard D.J. Augstin, the Pistons are now reportedly close to a deal with former Oklahoma City Thunder veteran Caron Butler. According to Marc Stein from ESPN.com, the Pistons are on the brink of signing Butler and adding him to their surprise free agent haul.

Butler and new Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy go way back, so it’s hard to see that as not having been a major selling point for the veteran. Detroit is a lot better than they let on and they should have been better in 2013-14 but things just didn’t click.

Now that they have Augustin and Butler, along with the other pieces they have, the Pistons are lining themselves up to have a great bounce back season in 2014-15 and that’s exactly what fans want to see and why guys like Augustin and Butler want to come to the Motor City.
