Bert Blyleven shows off his giant yellow Dutch clogs at Futures Game (Video)

Athletes making footwear statements is nothing new. The statement former Twins pitcher Bert Blyleven made when he came out to exchange lineup cards with fellow Futures Game manager Tom Kelly resonated loudly and clearly across the universe:

“I am Dutch, motherf–ker. And if you’re not careful I will totally stomp your face with my canoe-sized yellow clogs.”
Only a proud Dutchman would be seen in public sporting those giant-ass yellow clogs. Or a really really desperate hipster.
The best thing about them is, in the event of a flash flood, you can climb into one of them and paddle off to safety.
No really Bert Blyleven, those are sweet shoes. I could really see those taking off with athletes. Next year I bet Adidas will have a whole line of them.
Go down to the local basketball court next year and I bet you see a bunch of kids sporting the Adidas clogs. Look for a corresponding uptick in devastating ankle injuries. Cause you pretty much can’t run or jump in those things. Not without risking a serious tripping mishap.
But they come in handy if you’re walking a dark highway in the middle of the night and want passing motorists to know you’re there.
