The Home Run Derby is tonight and if you were tuning in to see the longball fly at Target Field, then you found yourself waiting a very long time for things to start. Rain rolled through the Minneapolis late on Monday afternoon and the clouds hung around well into the evening and well into the original start time for he Home Run Derby.

While it as an annoyance for those sitting at home to have to see the Home Run Derby delayed by rain, those actually at Target Field found themselves getting very wet very quickly. Typically the Derby is a nice evening of fun in the sun but leave it Minnesota to literally rain on everyone’s parade.
ESPN cameras caught some of the fans in the stands and they looked less than enthused for the evening they are in for.
The new rules installed for the Derby this year was supposed to tighten up the event and make it so things didn’t extend late into the evening. The Minnesota weather had other plans though and the Derby’s delayed start marks the start of what could be a wet and soggy All-Star week at Target Field.
