The Home Run Derby was delayed for about an hour thanks to rain that rolled through the Minneapolis area on Monday afternoon and it caused a lengthy wait before the longball started to fly.

But while things were wet and damp for a while, once the sun came out we got one of the cooler images of the entire All-Star weekend and a true sign that the fun and relaxation was upon us. As the first batter of the night, Todd Frazier, stepped into the batter’s box, the sun began to break through the clouds and light up Target Field just in time.
What was even more perfect timing was the rainbow that cameras captured as Frazier belted his first home run of the night.
For a sports a poetic as baseball, there really wasn’t a more perfect image or moment to have the first home run hit after the lengthy rain delay. Frazier and the man on deck Brian Dozier didn’t really light things up but they got the night off to a fun start and the image of the home run rainbow will be something baseball poets fawn over for years.
Admittedly, it was pretty cool.
