The MLB Trade Deadline is just around the corner and as a result we’re going to start hearing more and more names mentioned in more and more rumors around baseball. One of the hottest names at the moment is San Diego Padres righty Ian Kennedy, who is now being targeted by another California team.

More from Los Angeles Angels

The Los Angeles Angels are trying to make a push in the AL West — a division that is still very winnable for the Halos — and it’s causing them to take a look at the trade market to see where they can improve and who they can pick up. According to Ken Rosenthal from FoxSports.com, the Angels are indeed targeting Padres starter Ian Kennedy.

"The Los Angeles Angels, trailing the A’s by 1-1/2 games, are trying to counter their division rivals by targeting both Padres All-Star closer Huston Street and right-hander Ian Kennedy, according to major league sources."

Houston Street also appears to be a target for the Angels, who are right in the thick of a race for first place in the West and are trying to make sure they don’t get into a position where they’re passed up by the suddenly respectable Seattle Mariners.

Either way, the Angels will be active on the trade market this offseason which is a good sign for their second have motivation to make the postseason.
