3. Golden State Warriors: Following that same train of thought, if the Wolves want to win now, they’d do well to find a way to convince the Dubs relent on their off-limits stance with Klay Thompson. A potential deal here would either be Thompson and David Lee for Kevin Love, or Thompson, Lee and Harrison Barnes for Love and Kevin Martin. There are tons of problems on both sides here, however. The Wolves are adamant that the lesser of the Splash Brothers is included in a deal and the Warriors are highly overvaluing their admittedly talented and young sharpshooter. Barnes’ trade value has never been lower after a season of regression coming off the bench and to make matters worse, Minnesota views Lee as an over glorified stat sheet stuffer.

The Dubs are stubbornly refusing to include Thompson, a player who will probably never be an All-Star let alone an All-NBA player, for one of the top 10 players in the league who would complement Stephen Curry perfectly as a pick and pop stretch-4. Golden State doesn’t want to take on Kevin Martin‘s contract and Minnesota doesn’t want to take on Lee’s $15 million deal without Thompson being included. We can only assume that after so many times banging their heads into the same wall, someone will break through eventually.

The biggest issue for teams wanting to trade for Love is the fear that he’d only be a one-year rental and that he’d leave in free agency in 2015. But a pairing of Love and Curry would be too much fun, especially with Andre Iguodala, Andrew Bogut, Draymond Green and Shaun Livingston in the mix. That’s a dangerous Western contender and it’d be hard to Love to find greener pastures after that.
