MLB All-Star Game 2014: Chase Utley blasts RBI double off the wall (GIF)
By Hayden Kane
Given how stingy the pitching tends to be in MLB All-Star games, a three run lead for the American League felt like a huge hole early for the National League. Fortunately for the guys in the Senior Circuit, they mounted a rally of their own against Boston Red Sox starter Jon Lester.

In the middle of the rally was Philadelphia Phillies’ second baseman Chase Utley. A veteran infielder who has been really good for a really long time, the amazing thing about Utley is his ability to stay closed and turn on pitches. More impressive yet is the fact that Utley delivers those kinds of swings against right-handed and left-handed pitchers alike.
Look no further than this line drive double off Lester; he barrels a pitch on the inner half and nearly leaves the yard against one of the best left-handed starters in baseball.
This shot was followed by an RBI double from Brewers’ catcher Jonathan Lucroy, and just like that the National League brought it back to a one-run game and a showdown in which the pitchers from both sides will have to work in tight spots.
As the substitutes start to enter the game, it will be interesting to see how the game takes shape or if the pitching will take over after the starters were able to score some runs.
