MLB All-Star Game 2014: Jose Bautista misses tough catch at the wall (GIF)
By Hayden Kane
For the Toronto Blue Jays, keeping Jose Bautista healthy is certainly the number one priority. Sure, as a potential playoff contender they would love to see the American League win. If the circumstances were right they would even love to see Bautista contribute in a meaningful way to that victory. But in the end, they would not take anything else over having Bautista healthy after this game.

So it was that they cringed, along with the rest of the American League, as Bautista ventured near the wall in foul territory for a tough catch. With the warning track under his feet, a fan’s glove in his peripheral vision, and a foul ball that was scraping the wall, Bautista did his best to attempt the catch while not putting himself in harm’s way.
Bautista was successful in the latter endeavor; he came away from the play unscathed and remained in the game. As for the catch attempt, that was not necessarily his best moment.
When he sees a replay of this attempt, Bautista will probably wish that he could have a redo and eliminate his alligator arms from the equation. Thankfully for Bautista, the batter Yasiel Puig went on to strike out anyway. Ultimately this play is a blip in the big picture for the Blue Jays and their slugging right fielder.
