MLB All-Star Game: Fans prevent Freddie Freeman from catching foul pop-up (GIF)

If you were sitting in the front row at the MLB All-Star Game and a foul pop-up was descending towards you, wouldn’t you reach up to try and catch it? That is what these two fans did, with their gloves on their hands and ready to make a play, only to have Atlanta Braves’ first baseman Freddie Freeman get in their way to prevent them from catching a souvenir.

That’s one way to look at it. Another way to look at it, and perhaps the way that actually matters, is that these fans prevented Freeman from making a play on a tough pop-up that would have recorded a key out for the National League.
The clutter of his glove and those of the fans all reaching for the ball also caused Freeman to fall awkwardly as he lost his balance.
These fans did not necessarily come away with a catch on national TV, but they will always have a story to tell about the time they prevented a big league first baseman from recording an out and forcing him to fall on his rear end.
