MLB All-Star Game: Mike Trout named MVP
By Jack Crosby
The Major League Baseball All-Star Game was another eventful outing on Tuesday night, with the American League walking away with the 5-3 win and home field advantage in the upcoming World Series this October. However, as is the case every year, only one of these stars can walk away with the Most Valuable Player trophy, and this year that man was Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout.

Trout was 2-for-3 on the night with two RBI, and on a night where Derek Jeter was making his final appearance in an All-Star Game, naming Trout, one of the great up-and-comers in the game today, the MVP was almost a passing-of-the-torch type moment, to say the least.
In a game that was one of the most well-played versions of the annual event, Trout really needed to stand out in this one and he did. His two extra-base hits were needed to beat out not only Jeter who went 2-for-2, but also teammate Miguel Cabrera who homered in the first inning to really give the American League the jump on winning this one.
This is just yet another great addition to the resume of Trout, who has taken the Major League Baseball world by storm in just his first few seasons as a professional.
He just keeps justifying that large contract he was recently rewarded with.
