The NFL season is approaching and that not only means fans getting excited about the return of football, but that means trying to sort out their fantasy football teams. Fantasy football players look for sleeper picks they can get a big return on for a low pick, sometimes that means rookies.

More from Los Angeles Rams

The St. Louis Rams drafted Tre Mason in the third-round of the 2014 NFL Draft and he could be a breakout rookie if given the opportunity during the 2014 season. During a Q&A with fans, ESPN NFL Nation St. Louis Rams reporter Nick Wagoner was asked how many carries he expects Mason to get.

“Hard to say right now but I think putting him in the eight to 10 carry per game range is probably about right,” Wagoner replied. “That means something like 140-160 carries. That’s assuming health of course. Obviously, Stacy had some nagging injury issues in 2013. If that happens again, Mason’s role expands.”

The Rams had the 19th overall run offense based on yards, with 109.5 per game. Leading the way was Zac Stacy with 973 yards on 250 carries and he would likely still be the featured back heading into the season. With the amount of carries Wagoner estimates, Mason would be the clear second back, which also means Stacy might get less carries.
