The Wizards finished 44-38 and were able to take down the Chicago Bulls in five games in the first round of the playoffs before falling to the Indiana Pacers in six games.
They entered the offseason with a goal of re-signing center Marcin Gortat and swingman Trevor Ariza. They inked Gortat to a five-year, $60 million deal, but lost Ariza to the Rockets. They replaced Ariza with veteran forward Paul Pierce.
Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports reported the Wizards are now finalizing a contract to bring back guard Garrett Temple.
Temple confirmed the news himself.
The Miami Heat and Temple had mutual interested but that seemed to cool when LeBron James left the Heat in favor of a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Temple averaged 1.8 points, 1.0 assists and 0.9 rebounds in 8.5 minutes per game last season. He appeared in 75 games, shooting 36.2% from the field, 20.7% from beyond the arc and 69.8% from the free throw line. In his four-year NBA Career, the former LSU Tiger has played for the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Hornets (then-Bobcats). He’s averaged 3.4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 13.3 minutes per game while shooting 38.7% from the floor, 30.1% from three and 66.7% from the charity stripe.
