There is a lot of optimism regarding the Oakland Raiders entering the 2014 season. But much of their potential success depends on whether or not quarterback Matt Schaub is ready to return to his old form. Head coach Dennis Allen apparently believes that he will have no issue in that department.
According to Scott Bair at CSN Bay Area, Allen is “supremely confident” in Schaub being able to led this team to success this upcoming season.
"Head coach Dennis Allen is supremely confident in Schaub’s ability to rebound, especially after an offseason program where he showed tremendous football IQ and trademark accuracy."
The Raiders acquired Schaub in a trade with the Houston Texans this offseason, and given how poorly he played last season during the Texans’ miserable 2-14 campaign, it was a gamble to say the least.

However, they’re banking on the Schaub that led the Texans to playoff appearances, and there is also a good chance that they will get that player, especially if the offseason program has gone as well for Schaub as everyone says it has.
As insurance, the Raiders drafted Fresno State QB Derek Carr in the second round of the draft, but the best case scenario would be not to get him on the field until he’s good and ready. Not because Schaub can’t perform up to par.
