Texans’ Jadeveon Clowney trying to be ready for camp

The Houston Texans used their No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft on defensive end Jadeveon Clowney out of South Carolina. They’re hoping Clowney can be a star on an already talented defensive line opposite of J.J. Watt, but he is still trying to make a comeback from an injury.
Clowney still is trying tog et healthy in time for training camp and the 2014 season though, recovering from a sports hernia surgery and he still hasn’t been cleared. Saturday is the target fate for Clowney to get the “all clear” allowing him to participate in the team’s first preseason practice.
“I’m going to try,” said Clowney, according to Brian T. Smith from the Houston Chronicle. “That’s the goal, to try to get back. But I don’t know for sure right now. I’m going to let (the trainers) decide.”
“It’s still day by day,” Clowney added. “Just taking one day at a time, letting the trainers decide.”
Missing the first couple days of training camp wouldn’t certainly be the worst thing in the world, but as a rookie coming into a new league, with a new team, the more time on the practice field he can get, the better.
