Adam Jones loses track of outs, allows run to score (Video)
By Hayden Kane
To be fair to Baltimore Orioles’ center fielder Adam Jones, he probably wasn’t going to throw out Yoenis Cespedes on this sacrifice fly anyway. But it certainly would have looked better if he had attempted a throw instead of jogging aimlessly as if he had recorded the third out of the inning.

Jones glided in and made one of his usual effortless catches on a soft line drive to center. Thinking that it was the third out of the inning, Jones left the ball buried in his glove and started jogging to the dugout. Unfortunately for him, it was only the second out and a confused Cespedes crossed the plate, scoring from third base.
Not that Jones would be inclined to celebrate the fact that his team got blown out by the Athletics by a final score of 10-2, but it is probably a relief to the All-Star outfielder that his boneheaded play did not cost his team a crucial run in a closely contested game. And in a game like that one, let’s just say that the Orioles have more moments that they would like to forget than this snafu from Jones.
