British Open 2014: Tiger Woods has worst ever finish in a major after making cut
It hasn’t been a good year for Tiger Woods on the golf course, as he’s missed multiple cuts and had to undergo back surgery. His return to the course hasn’t exactly gone as planned either.

On Sunday, Woods finished his final round at The Open Championship, and the end couldn’t come soon enough. He shot a 75 (+3) on the day and secured his worst overall finish at a major he’s made the cut in.
Woods ended the tournament at +6, a surprising finish given his strong start to the tournament. He started off with a three-under-par performance in round one of the The Open, but a disastrous second round took him out of contention as he shot a 77 (+5).
Thanks to the first round performance, Woods was able to stay in the tournament but just couldn’t get his game back on track after the second round.
On Sunday, it appeared Woods would attempt to fight back to playing under par as he birdied the first hole. However he gave it right back on the next hole and then double-bogeyed the seventh hole.
Woods rounded out the front nine with a birdie, but was still one-over-par on the front nine. He then went off the rails on the back nine, bogeying three of the first five holes to secure his fate.
After posting the three-under-par opening round, Woods would play on the other side of par for the rest of the tournament.
For Woods its continued to be a struggle in 2014, where he’s finished a tournament over par for the third time in six events. He’s finished under par just once since his opening tournament playoff loss at the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge.
