The offseason is always a time that breeds optimism in professional sports. Teams have drafted players to fill roles, signed free agents they think will solver all their woes and return them to glory.
The Buffalo Bills are full of optimism heading into training camp and head coach Doug Marrone said the goal for the team is to make it into the playoffs.
From the Bills’ website:
"Q: What are you expectations for the season with regards to where you’ll be at the end of the year?A: Obviously our goal is to be in the playoffs."
It won’t be an easy task playing in a talented AFC East with a dominant New England Patriots team and a much improved New York Jets team. Still, it is a sentiment being echoed throughout the Bills organization. Bills general manager Doug Whaley said he expects 2014 to be the season to break the playoff drought streak.
“We haven’t been in the playoffs in a long time and we owe it to the fans, our late Hall of Fame owner and everybody in this business to show that we’re not the Bills anymore,” Whaley said, via the team’s website. “We want to be a playoff team. We’re planning to be a playoff team and that’s our goal.”
