NFL head coaches are always thought to be on the hot seat to a certain degree, getting a few years to prove themselves before getting fired. Coaches that have won Super Bowls with their team usually get a little bit more security in their jobs and the team really has to take a dive to be fired, but Super Bowl winning head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin, isn’t assuming anything after back-to-back .500 seasons.

“I don’t assume that,” Tomlin told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
To drive the point of coach turnover home, Tomlin has three former head coaches on his staff: Todd Haley, Dick LeBeau and new offensive line coach Mike Munchak.
“Hopefully (when the season ends), I’m not one of them,” Tomlin joked.
One thing seems to be clear though, Tomlin wants to be in Pittsburgh for the long term according to Terry Hammons, an Upper St. Clair native and one of Tomlin’s closest friends.
“I wouldn’t want to say anything to (influence) his next contract talks with the Rooneys,” said Hammons. “But he’s a happy guy in Pittsburgh. He would love for his sons and daughter to go through school in Pittsburgh. He’s talked about that. He’s a Pittsburgh guy. He’s all in with Western Pennsylvania.”
“We’ve been blessed to work in a place that we can call home, that has embraced us, and we embrace it,” Tomlin said. “It’s cool. (The kids) are Pitt Panther guys in terms of basketball. They’re Penguin guys in regards to hockey, and (during baseball season) Andrew McCutchen is their favorite athlete.”
