Signing Chandler Parsons did not leave the Mavs with much space to make many other moves, so they had to set their eyes on veterans that could still put up numbers and not be paid a hefty sum.
Today, the Mavericks officially signed veteran Richard Jefferson to a one-year, $1.4 million contract.
Signing Jefferson leaves the Mavericks with very little cap space as pointed out by Dwain Price.
As of now there is no word as to who the Mavericks have their eye on to fill their last two roster spots, but it is unlikely to be anyone that could affect their team greatly.
As for Jefferson, his last few years in the league has seen him become an NBA journeyman playing for the Spurs, Jazz, and Warriors all within the last five years. Jefferson’s best playing days came back at the start of his career when he spent seven years with the New Jersey Nets.
Jefferson’s veteran leadership will be an important factor is meshing the team together next season as they hope to make a deep run into the playoffs.
