With NFL training camps opening up around the country this week and next month, the world of football is finally back and it’s time to get down business for most teams trying to make a name for themselves.

More from NFL

One team who already has a name is under fire thanks to it as the public outcry over the use of the nickname Redskins has led to there being a call to change Washington’s team name to something less offensive.

In his latest MMQB column, NFL guru Peter King predicts that the Redskins will have a new name by the 2016 season.

"I think the Washington franchise will have a new team name by 2016."

This is something that is starting to sound more and more realistic as the NFL is getting heat from everywhere about the use of the Washington Redskins team name and have even heard once again from the U.S. Patent Office. Daniel Snyder is likely calling in favors to the politicians he knows, but the political heat on this front has been rather intense as well.

All of this seems to be leading to a name change as it’s the only way that this situation can go away. Washington has escaped having to change its name in the past but this time Daniel Snyder may not be so lucky.
