At this point in his career, Lewis is nothing more than a 12th man off the bench for a championship contender.

Hoops Habit
After spending the last two seasons of his career with the Miami Heat, Lewis signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks for the veterans’ minimum. With a handful of depth in the Mavericks’ frontcourt (Nowitzki, Parsons, Wright, Chandler, Griffin), it’s difficult finding a scenario outside of injury where Rashard Lewis breaks the rotation. At the most, Rick Carlisle will find spot minutes for Lewis on the floor in order to give Dirk Nowitzki a quick breather.
In his final season with the Miami Heat, Lewis averaged 4.5 points, his lowest scoring output since his rookie season, and 1.8 rebounds per game. In the playoffs playing a larger role, Lewis’ numbers jumped to 5.3 points and 2.1 rebounds while shooting 37 percent from three.
