Chandler Parsons responds to Dwight Howard: I know he didn’t mean it

There were some that were surprised when the Houston Rockets refused to match the Dallas Mavericks’ offer sheet for Chandler Parsons, thus letting him walk away from the team. After that, the verbal jabs started.

First, Parsons stated that he felt disrespected by the Rockets for not opting to pay him the same amount that the Mavericks would, which some could see as understandable.
But then the star of the Rockets, Dwight Howard, weighed in with his opinion, and his words echoed throughout the league. Howard basically said that Parsons leaving the team wouldn’t affect them at all, and they can move on toward a championship without him.
Well on an appearance with Jim Rome recently, Parsons was asked about the comment from Howard, and he believes that there really was nothing to the comment because Howard didn’t mean it.
“I know he didn’t mean it. He’s one of my closest friends,” said Parsons. “He’s got to be confident with the Rockets moving forward with or without me there, so I understand where he’s coming from. I think it’s a ridiculous statement, but at the end of the day, he has to stick up for the Rockets and I don’t think he meant it in a bad way and didn’t try to bash me at all.”
Howard’s comments could be up in the air for interpretation. Maybe he didn’t mean it as a slight toward Parsons. There is the possibility that he was just trying to boost the confidence of his team around him still.
