Little kids dream about meeting major league baseball players, but not like this. During Tuesday’s Mets-Mariners game, Eric Young, Jr. chased a foul ball into the stands and crashed into a couple of fans, including a little kid who started to cry.

More from MLB

Young made it good with the kid and another youngster who I assume is the kid’s brother, giving them baseballs. It’s worth a little emotional trauma if you get a souvenir out of it, right?

I’m sure the kid will be fine…in the long run. There could be a few bad dreams for awhile, maybe some bed-wetting episodes. The parents might have to install a night light in Timmy’s room so he doesn’t think Eric Young is coming to get him.

Don’t worry Timmy, that’s just a shadow, it’s not Eric Young coming to crush you in your sleep.

All right, the psychiatry bill might get a little steep. Some medication may have to be dispensed. But, eventually, the kid will get over it. I’m sure by the time he gets to high school he will have worked through all the lingering issues from crying on television after a baseball player landed in his lap.

Hopefully.
