Dean Cain used to be Superman, and Matt Leinart used to be Big Man on Campus. Now neither one of them is much of anything but at least they have each other to beat up on, so that’s nice.

More from NFL

This whole silly Cain-vs-Leinart started when a TMZ cameraman cornered Dean Cain outside Costco and interrogated him about Johnny Manziel. Rather than punch the guy, Cain (himself a former college football player) offered up a Manziel take that also included a blast at one-time USC QB Leinart.

"Listen, good for [Manziel], he’s a great player, he won the Heisman as a freshman. Unbelievable guy. In the NFL, it’s a whole different world. He’s got the physical gifts, but he’s not your typical NFL quarterback. So I hope he’s happy, but there are a lot of athletes in the NFL. So I don’t know. I don’t know how he’s going to do.I do remember another quarterback back in the day coming out being a high draft choice, hanging out with the Hollywood starlets and stars and never really doing that well. I didn’t say any names that wore No. 11 coming out of USC — Matt Leinart — but …"

Vicious. I have to assume Cain lost a bunch of money because of Leinart at some point. There’s really no other explanation for him to blindside Leinart like that.

Cain continued the beat down by quipping that Leinart can still get ladies, he just can’t get an NFL contract. Leinart heard about this and went on Twitter to retaliate:

Leinart isn’t much better at retorting than he is at quarterbacking. Stick to selling used cars or whatever you’re doing now Leinart!

There’s only one way to settle this beef: Both these guys go back into whatever deep, dark hole they crawled out of and stay there forever. I never want to think about either of them again.
