Mark McGwire on Jose Canseco: ‘I don’t care to ever speak to him again’
By Mike Dyce
Former slugger Mark McGwire is the type of guy to hold a grudge. Former Major League Baseball slugger Jose Canseco wrote a book in 2005 called “Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant ‘Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big.” In the book he blew the whistle on the steroids era in baseball, naming players like former teammage Mark McGwire.

The two were teammates in the late 80s with the Oakland Athletics and at the 25th anniversary of their 1989 World Series victory last weekend, Canseco tried to apologize. Not for the first time, he has tried numerous times before to apologize but they seemed partly more publicity stunt than genuine, like showing up to a St. Louis Cardinals game at Dodger Stadium wearing a black T-shirt that read, “Sorry for everything, Mark.”
McGwire, who subsequently admitted to PED use in 2010, has no desire to reconcile with his former teammate.
“It’s too late. I don’t care to ever speak to him again,” McGwire told ESPNLosAngeles.com on Wednesday. “What he did was wrong.”
But Canseco is still apologizing.
