The Philadelphia 76ers selected Jackson with the 42nd-overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. In 2013, along with 76ers’ point guard Jrue Holiday, Jackson was dealt to the New Orleans Pelicans for a draft pick in 2013 and 2014. The 76ers used those picks on former Kentucky Wildcats’ big man Nerlens Noel and former Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns’ point guard Elfrid Payton, who they dealt to the Orlando Magic for the rights to Croatian forward Dario Saric and a future pick.
After not making the team to start the season, Jackson gave thought to heading overseas to France, but joined the Idaho Stampede of the D-League instead. He soon became not only the best player on the Stampede, but arguably the best player in the league. He even scoring 58 points in a game and was named to the D-League All-Star team. On draft night in 2014, Jackson was traded back to the 76ers for the rights to former Louisville Cardinals’ guard Russ Smith.
According to Mark Deeks of Sham Sports, the 76ers have signed Jackson to a one-year, partially guaranteed deal.
The 76ers, who also covered Jackson’s medical costs after he tore his Achilles in the Orlando Pro Summer League just two weeks ago, are certainly showing a lot of faith in Jackson the second time around.
