Madden 15 gameplay improvements

EA Sports has released a new developer blog that breaks down a number of gameplay improvements coming to Madden this year with Madden 15.

More from Entertainment

Among the new features include changes to the game’s pre-play mechanics. Players have been able to adjust their receivers routes to make sure they go to the best spot on the field to achieve a first down. Well, now players on the defensive side of the ball will also see the addition of a “smart route” option.

By hitting Y (Xbox One) or Triangle (PlayStation), players can make defenders move back to the first down line to make sure everything stays in front of them.

Another feature coming to the pre-snap side of the game is the new max protect blocking. Gone is the option to choose aggressive blocking in the slide protection panel. Instead, max protect blocking will have your tight ends and running backs change their routes to stay back and block for you if you feel a heavy blitz is coming. It’s a subtle change that many hardcore Madden players will like having.

New coverage adjustments are also available to players on the defensive side of the ball. Underneath, Overtop, Outside and Inside are all now choices for your individual players when trying to decide the best strategy to stop the offense. There is also a new QB contain mechanic that will create more realistic options for players than ever before.

Other gameplay changes include fake snap upgrades, improved adaptive AI, QB cadences, kicking game adjustments and much more. You can read all about them via Madden’s official website.
