The Rockets valued Casspi’s ability to shoot the ball but they were attempting to clear cap space to make a run at New York Knicks’ forward Carmelo Anthony and Miami Heat big man Chris Bosh, but each team re-signed with their current team.
Casspi was waived and was put on waivers but in a surprise to many, he went unclaimed. That was big news for one of Casspi’s former teams, the Sacramento Kings, who reportedly had their eyes on Casspi. Casspi was originally drafted by the Kings with the 23rd-overall selection in the 2009 NBA Draft and spent his first two seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was in Cleveland for two seasons and then joined the Rockets a year ago.
According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, now that he has cleared waivers, he is finalizing a deal to return to the Kings.

This way Casspi can sign deal that only counts for $915,243 on Kings' cap and allows SAC to keep Quincy Acy as opposed to waiving him first

Kings drafted Casspi in first round in 2009 and will bring him back now on one-year deal that should also allow them to hang onto Quincy Acy

Keeping Acy was also a priority meaning this turned into an excellent day for the Kings. Casspi averaged 6.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 42.2% from the field, 35.2% from three and 68.0% from the free throw line.
