The Philadelphia Eagles have opened up training camp. We all know that it will be Nick Foles who will be the team’s starting quarterback, but there is no guarantee about who will be serving as the primary backup when the season begins.

While former USC Trojans quarterbacks Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley are battling for the No. 2 position on the depth chart, it appears that Sanchez still has a lead.

From Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer:

Barkley did not look good during his first opportunities to take the field in the NFL, so it is no real surprise that Sanchez is ahead of Barkley on the depth chart.

Barring some miraculous turnaround during training camp and the pre-season, we would expect to see Sanchez keep his job as the primary back up when the season kicks off in early September.
