UFC on FOX 12 results: Patrick Cummins dominates Kyle Kingsbury

As the action at the SAP Center in San Jose, California rolled on for the UFC on FOX 12 preliminary card, San Jose’s own Kyle Kingsbury returned to the Octagon to take on Patrick Cummins in a light heavyweight scrap.

Play-by-play of the bout provided below:

Round 1: Cummins wasted no time grabbing the single leg and dragged Kingsbury to the mat. Cummins is a former two-time All-American wrestler, and that was on display early. Kingsbury was able to bounce back to his feet briefly, but Cummins put him right back on the mat and and was showing off some dominant grappling. Cummins’ strength was a clear advantage and he was not afraid to use it. It was all Cummins. FanSided scorecard: 10-8, Cummins. 

Round 2: Cummins landed another takedown to start off the second frame. Kingsbury got back to his feet, but Cummins took him again for a ride. Kingsbury didn’t have much to offer Cummins, but he was trying to stay in the fight. Cummins took Kingsbury for another ride and started working for some ground-and-pound. Cummins finished the round blasting Kingsbury in the face. FanSided scorecard: 10-8, Cummins (20-16, Cummins)

Round 3: Kingsbury attempted to open up his striking, but Cummins blasted another takedown and Kingsbury was right back on his back. Kingsbury stood back up, but you could see his punches coming from a mile away. After a swing and a miss, Cummins was back in top position. Again, it was all Cummins and Kingsbury was doing nothing but hanging on. Cummins was close to securing a choke in the final moments of the fight, but Kingsbury hung on and was able to avoid getting finished. FanSided scorecard: 10-8, Cummins (30-24, Cummins)
