The Astros’ Chris Carter hits a liner right back at Marlins pitcher Tom Khoeler that strikes Koehler in the back, bouncing high enough in the air to easily be caught by Adeiny Hechavarria.

If you’re scoring at home, that’s an assist for Koehler. Is there any way we can give him two assists on that one? I feel like he deserves an extra stat.
Koehler thankfully was uninjured even though that ball hit him flush. The base runners miraculously were able to locate the ball quickly enough to get back to their bases before getting doubled off.
Koehler this morning probably has one giant purple throbbing back bruise but at least the Marlins recorded the out. That is the main thing. If you’re going to experience the horrific pain of being hit flush in the back by a baseball, at least get the out.
Good heads-up play by Hechevarria. His effort made Koehler’s agony worth it. Without his terrific awareness, Koehler would have suffered a backburger for nothing. Koehler owes Hechavarria a nice dinner.
