Time flies. It was just yesterday we were celebrating the San Antonio Spurs’ success as they walked away the victors in the 2014 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. Now, NBA scheduling rumors are upon us, and if Gary Washburn is right, the Spurs could begin their title defense in Cleveland for the season opener.
"Rumor has it that the NBA’s season-opening game on TNT will be San Antonio at Cleveland, the first home game for LeBron James in his return to Cleveland and the first game for the defending NBA champion Spurs. The NBA schedule is expected to be released next month."
If true, we all knew this was happening–except with the Spurs opening at home for the banner raising ceremony.

Wiz of Awes
With the NBA always opting to open the season with the current NBA champions, no other matchup takes sense. Returning with the same roster as last season, the San Antonio Spurs get to receive a first-hand look at what type of threat the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers can be.
And depending on what transactions take place from now until the beginning of the 2014-15 season, this Cavaliers team could possess a monster three-man threat of LeBron James, Kevin Love, and Kyrie Irving. If the Minnesota Timberwolves and Cavaliers fail to make a deal, a trio of James, Irving, and 2014 first overall pick in Andrew Wiggins will be in place.
If/when these two teams face off, it’ll be the ultimate litmus test to how far away the Cavaliers are from true championship contention. There’s no better machine to draw a conclusion from than the San Antonio Spurs. They’re the consensus best team and it allows this young Cavaliers to get an early test of what could be to come in June–if they even make it there.
The 2014-15 NBA season will kick off in November–or late, late October.
