Tour de France 2014: Vincenzo Nibali wins Tour de France
By Josh Hill
The Tour de France is a race that a lot of people like to point and laugh at for it just being a giant endurance race on a bike, but for every fan who only watches for the crashes, there are more fans who watch to enjoy the spectacle of human beings riding bikes across countries and a lot farther and faster then they should be allowed by physics.

This year Italy’s Vincenzo Nibali was the one who rode fastest of all as he took home first place at the Tour de France.
Nibali winning the Tour de France also carried some cool trivial information, as pointed out by the New York Times. According to Ian Austen from the Times, Nibali winning the Tour de France is the first time an overall winner has wont he race since Eddy Merckx
"For cycling history enthusiasts — a group that includes the Tour winner — Nibali has become the first overall winner since Eddy Merckx, widely regarded as cycling’s greatest racer, to also take four nontime trial stages. Nibali has also joined a select group of six cyclists, again including Merckx, have won all three of cycling’s grand tours — the Tour, the Vuelta a España and the Giro d’Italia."
One thing that the Tour De France no doubt does is mark the near end of summer as it’s the final major racing event and final major sporting event in July and signals the end of the summer sports calendar. Now we move on to NFL preseason, FIBA World Cup action on other sporting events that merely prepare us for the start of something else, but for Vincenzo Nibali, he’s the last king of the sports world for the summer of 2014.
