NFL: Tennessee Titans will be in the playoffs in 2014 if…

Remember the Titans…when they used to be in the playoffs?

It’s been a longer drought than some may think. Back in 2008 and under then-head coach Jeff Fisher, the Tennessee Titans won its first 10 games and finished with the best record in the NFL with a 13-3 mark.

The team made a quick exit as the AFC’s No. 1 seed in the playoffs that year and the franchise hasn’t returned to the postseason since.

As we all know, Fisher is now the head coach of the St. Louis Rams. Since then, Mike Munchak took over the top job and after three seasons, was let go after a 22-26 record.

Now it’s up to Ken Whisenhunt to get this program back on track. The aforementioned season in which the Titans last reached the playoffs was the same year that the well-regarded coach was leading the Arizona Cardinals to Super Bowl XLIII.

For the second straight offseason, the Titans were busy acquiring talent. Will it make a difference in a division in which they finished in second place in 2013 but at 7-9 and four games behind the Indianapolis Colts? Don’t be surprised if this is one of the most improved teams in the league this upcoming season.
