In this day and age, social media has taken the world by storm. In the sports world, you can get all of your news and rumors from Twitter whether it is from a team, media member or a player himself.

More from NBA

Almost every team, organization, and player has a Twitter to share their thoughts, pictures, and activities with the world.

The NBA is among a plethora of leagues that own a Twitter profile, and they have a huge following at 10.8 million people.

That is just about the same amount of followers the NFL (7.02 million followers) and the MLB (3.71 million) Twitter handles have combined.

With the NBA’s Twitter being one of the more popular sports profiles, it makes sense that the NBA will be including their Twitter handle on official game day basketballs next season.

The retail basketballs in stores will now also have the NBA Twitter handle engraved on the ball.

Could we see this become a developing trend throughout leagues around the world? Will the NFL, MLB, and NHL follow suit and adorn their Twitter handle on their balls and or pucks? Only time will tell.
