One phenomenon that is occurring in wake of the Lester deal to the A’s is that teams are now shifting immediate focus to the Tampa Bay Rays and Price’s availability. It was said that the Rays were going to wait until the final 24 hours of the deadline to make a deal or consider offers and it appears that they were right on track with that plan.
Sources: #Dodgers have been in talks with #Rays on Price, with Pederson in play. #Pirates also had been discussing him as of this AM.

Pittsburgh is one of those teams who are likely seeing Price as a consolation prize to Jon Lester, as the team was in on talks with the Red Sox before the ace was ultimately dealt to the Oakland A’s.
There’s no saying just how serious the Pirates are about acquiring Price from the Rays but they are no doubt in conversations to do so. The only question is are the Bucs getting in on the talks too late in the process to be serious players?
