Metta World Peace contract in China only worth $700,000

It’s been a far fall from the top for Metta World Peace, the basketball artist formerly known as Ron Artest.

But while he has fallen out of the good graces of the NBA, years after the Malice at the Palace, Artest’s career has taken a pretty sad turn overseas as he’s joined up with a Chinese team for dirt cheap pay.
According to NBA scribe Adam Pick, the contract that Ron Artest is signing in China is worth just $700,000, which is far less than what he’d earn under the CBA’s minimum pay for veteran players in the NBA.
Had Artest signed with a team in the NBA, he’d have been worth $1.4 million, which is what veterans of over 10 years in the NBA are paid on the minimum pay scale. That’s likely where folks are getting that figure from.
However, convert the $700,000 figure to the CHinese Yuan and Artest is actually making ¥4.3 million which seems a lot better than what he’s actually making in U.S. Dollars.
