It looks like players are a bit nervous after Florida finished 4-8 last year and brought in former Duke Blue Devils’ offensive coordinator Brent Pease. Rather than commit early in the process, which is something Muschamp would prefer, players are likely looking to see improvement for many reasons. Chiefs among those reasons is Muschamp could lose his job if he doesn’t up the win total in 2014.
However, there are still plenty of excellent prospects who want to be a member of Muschamp’s squad and on Thursday night they landed a key commitment, earning a pledge from 3-Star offensive tackle Mike Horton.
Horton announced his decision via twitter.
The 6’4, 310-pounder is from Atlanta, Georgia and attends Lakeside High School. He is ranked as the country’s 60th-best offensive tackle prospect, is ranked as the 49th-best overall prospect in the state of Georgia and is the 516th-ranked overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Just about every school in the SEC is interested in Horton – he has offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes and Tennessee Volunteers, among others.
Horton is the Gators’ eighth verbal commitment in the class of 2015. Their class is ranked 38th in the country and 11th in the SEC.
