We’ve gone a few days without news on a potential Kevin Love trade, but this news is the proverbial writing on the wall. According to a report from Charley Walters, the Minnesota Timberwolves expect to trade Love at the end of August.

From Pioneer Press:

"The Timberwolves say now that they expect to trade disgruntled all-star Kevin Love and that a deal is expected Aug. 23 or Aug. 24.“I’m saying it’s most likely because Kevin has made it pretty clear that that’s what he wants to do,” Wolves owner Glen Taylor told the Pioneer Press."

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Taylor has long denied the T’Wolves wanting to trade Kevin Love, but it looks like he’s come to grips with reality. It’s not easy trading a superstar, but at the same time, Taylor knows the implications of prolonging a trade for a superstar–he saw with Kevin Garnett. But unlike then, Taylor sees the opportunity to net in an excellent trade package for his disgruntled, superstar player.

The likely package for Love? The Cleveland Cavaliers package of Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett, and a future first-round selection. That’s the best one available, but if Cleveland and Minnesota can’t come together on a deal, Golden State and Chicago linger in the shadows with ready trade offers.

Nothing can be done until August 23rd–30 days after Andrew Wiggins signed his rookie deal–so when that point arrives, expect the Kevin Love trade talks to come in full force.
