The moment Paul George injured his leg in gruesome fashion on Friday night, distressed observers tried to put the incident into context.

It is unsurprising, then, that everybody mind’s immediately jumped to the broken leg sustained by then-Louisville guard Kevin Ware during the 2013 NCAA tournament. When it happened, many found that to be the worst injury they had ever seen, right up there with Kenyon Martin, Joe Theismann, and other famous, gruesome injuries.
Ware’s incident is the freshest in people’s minds, and so the comparisons began to fly. Some said it was the worst they had seen since Ware. Some said Ware’s was worse. Some said George’s was worse. None of that actually matters, of course, as the larger point is that everybody is supporting George and hoping for his full recovery.
As for Ware himself, now a Georgia State guard, he took to Twitter to offer his support to George.
Simple, straightforward support from a guy who has been through the process of sustaining a serious injury in the public eye and then having to work all the way back to action on the court. While a lot of people might want to claim they know where George is coming from, Ware actually has a pretty darn good idea.
It is already known that George will possibly be out for the entire 2014-2015 season. Here’s hoping that George can successfully make it through the whole rehab process without any issues or setbacks.
