Cleveland Cavaliers rookie Andrew Wiggins is anxiously awaiting the start of his rookie season, but there is no guarantee his first regular season game will come as a member of the team that drafted him.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Wiggins, who is eligible to be traded on Aug. 23, has been involved in the Cavaliers trade rumors surrounding Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love.

There have been conflicting reports about whether or not the rookie would be included in a package that would team Love up with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving, and it is increasingly clear that even Wiggins is uncertain about his future.

“At the end of the day you have to remember that the NBA is a business before anything,” Wiggins told ESPN during an interview, as transcribed by Pro Basketball Talk. “I’m waiting to hear. I’m a rookie. I don’t really have too much say.”

Wiggins was then asked whether or not he believes the Cavaliers want him.

That question received a very awkward response.

“Yeah,” Wiggins said. He then paused and added, “I hope so.”

It has to be strange for Wiggins to have so much uncertainty surrounding his future at such an early point in his career, but regardless of where he ends up there is no denying the fact that Wiggins has all of the talent you need to become a star in the league.
