It’s at the end of the month that teams have to add any player they want to take to the postseason with them to the roster, otherwise they’ll be left off the postseason roster by default.
Jayson Nix is a guy who has a lot of people scratching their heads as he’s shown amazing skill in the past but hasn’t been totally up to snuff as of late. Hopefully that will change for him though, as the Pittsburgh Pirates are going him a hot to prove his worth and have signed him to a deal.
Nix was cut by the Tampa Bay Rays the other week after failing to live up to anyone’s expectations, and his arrival in Tampa came after the Philadelphia Phillies acquired him in the winter and then outright hum which allowed his return to the Rays to become possible.
There;s no saying that the Pirates have struck gold or found hidden treasure with this deal, but it’s looking like he may be in for one final chance to pirove he still has it as it’s hard to see Nix getting much more chances than this.
