The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking at ways to further improve their roster, and the most recent rumor is that the team is looking into not only Kevin Love but also former Dallas Mavericks veteran Shawn Marion.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

According to NBA scribe Chuck Myron, the Shawn Marion rumors tying him to the Cleveland Cavaliers have brought about a new viable idea that the Cavs could target Iman Shumpert to help fill out their roster.

"Funny you should mention that. In breaking news that’s about to hit the site, the Cavs have met with Shawn Marion. So there’s a perimeter defender option. Cleveland would be limited to giving him the minimum, though, so I imagine they’ll have some competition from teams that can give him more. As for Shumpert, that’s a viable idea, although the Knicks would probably ask for assets that Cleveland would be unwilling to surrender."

Adding Shumpert isn’t a bad idea at all, as it gives the Cavs some depth at the two and a possible replacement for Dion Waiters should he be dealt at any point this summer or this season. Shumpert has growing to do, but he was a hot name before he tore his ACL a few years ago and is starting to get back to being the type of player who could be a superstar someday.
