Greg Monroe rumors: Monroe a ‘strong possibility’ for Atlanta Hawks
After getting a steal in Paul Millsap last year, the Atlanta Hawks entered the 2014 offseason with high hopes. The Hawks were armed with cap space and have a very talented team featuring Millsap, point guard Jeff Teague, marksman Kyle Korver and center Al Horford, who will be returning from injury. However, the Hawks have been relatively quiet – their biggest deal was acquiring free agent swingman Thabo Sefolosha in a sign-and-trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Hawks may not be done though – they have their eyes on Detroit Pistons’ restricted free agent big man Greg Monroe. Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors believes Monroe is a “strong possibility” for the Hawks.
"Monroe’s a strong possibility, and they could get in the market for Marion or other veteran free agents once the fates of Monroe and Bledsoe are finally determined. They’re also in strong position to make a trade, so it’s possible they’re waiting to see what happens on that front."
The Pistons would like to keep Monroe and can ultimately match any offer to keep him but if the right deal came along, they may be willing to listen to offers in a sign-and-trade. The Phoenix Suns, among others, also continue to show interest in Monroe.
Monroe put up 15.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 65.7% from the free throw line last season.
