Shawn Marion rumors: Marion visits Cleveland Cavaliers

Veteran forward Shawn Marion has been a key cog in the Dallas Mavericks’ success over the last few seasons.

Marion has been a member of the Mavericks since 2009 and helped the win the NBA Title in 2011, defeating the Miami Heat in six games. He was drafted by the Phoenix Suns with the ninth-overall pick in the first round of the 1999 Draft and remained there until 2008 when he was dealt to the Miami Heat in the Shaquille O’Neal trade. He then joined the Toronto Raptors before winding up in Dallas.

Marion has enjoyed his time in Dallas but after the Mavericks signed Chandler Parsons and Al-Farouq Aminu, his time in Dallas has almost certainly come to an end.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com and confirmed by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Marion visited with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday.

Marion averaged 10.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 48.2% from the field,  35.8% from beyond the arc and 78.5% from the free throw line last season. Over the course of his career, he’s put up 15.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 48.5% from the floor, 33.2% from three and 81.1% from the charity stripe.
